Spoiler alert: Craig Alanson & R.C. Bray
If you're a sci-fi geek that loves goofy banter, outlandish adventure and shenanigans performed by human space pirates among a galaxy of far superior aliens, then Expeditionary Force is your series. At the time of writing this, twelve books of the fourteen-book series are complete.
One of my goals in writing is to hear a well-performed audio book version of one of my manuscripts. R.C. Bray is my hands-down favorite narrator. And the characters Craig Alanson writes for R.C. Bray to read are incredible.
Alanson doesn't write in flowing prose, but in snarky quips and goofy emotional dynamics. He puts his characters into impossible situations and forces them to think outside the box, which is fun. Things that shouldn't work do.
Sometimes narrators will ruin a book for me. With this series, I can't imagine replacing Bray's voice for my own. The way he nails "Skippy the Magnificent" and the ever daringly so stupid he's genius "Major Bishop" is priceless.
If you haven't downloaded the audible series, do it now. You won't regret it.
If you have listened to the books, check out this hilarious video session with the dynamic duo.
